And then there was one…………..
Okay, you’ve been there before, you go to a gym with your boyfriend or girlfriend, your husband or wife, both of you filled with the best laid intentions and ,BAM!, your friend is no longer able to go work out with you, your husband isn’t in the mood to hit the gym, to go walking…..familiar?
Well, that is EXACTLY where we find Pat in his Fitness challenge, by himself in a competition not against another person but in a battle of healthy lifestyle versus unhealthy lifestyle!
Who will win?.....I can predict the winner of this type of internal battle each and every time and be 100% accurate!
The side that will win will be the outcome that Pat or any one else in their own battles focus on! If Pat focuses on what he can’t eat, how sore he gets from exercising, how it takes extra effort to go to the gym to work out with Jason, well, then he will not succeed, BUT if he keeps his eye on that goal weight of 167 lbs, slim trim, looking and feeling great, focus on the feelings of accomplishment and attainment in reaching his goal weight and slim trim 32/33 inch waist, focus on seeing himself looking handsome, attractive, desireable, seeing his wife and family proud of him and letting othe women know that ,’He belongs to me!”, yes, by focusing on what attaining the goal brings to his life then Pat WILL SUCCEED!
Don’t worry who is no longer running the race with you…don’t worry if you’re in the gym by yourself…don’t worry if no one is theree to give you a reward for your hard work and effort….no, you’ll be able to take your TROPHY, your REWARD with you from now on for the rest of your life no matter where you go…YES, a SLIM, TRIM, STRONG, ENERGETIC, SEXY PHYSIQUE, yes,all will see that you PAT, and everyone else who keeps their eyes on the goal are the WINNER, the CHAMPION, the VICTOR, and to the VICTOR goes all of the SPOILLS, and to the LOSER goes nothing, absolutely NOTHING! Nothing but the utter sense of misery, and total defeat, and a sense of disappointment in themselves.
We salute you Pat and to all of the CHAMPIONS on this your SUPER BOWL Day! All the SPOILS, all the REWARDS, yes, EVERYTHING!
Roger Literski update
Are You Committed to Losing Weight?
Or What Does a Slimmer You Mean to You?
By Roger Literski, CI, BCH Dir. Literski and Jones Hypnosis Center
In ‘Any Given Sunday’, Al Pacino, in the role of a professional head football coach gave one of the best sports speeches ever and in this speech he told his players, that ‘I can’t do it for you! I’m too old, too tired, you’ve got to look in the eye of the guy next to you, look into his eye. Are you willing to go that extra inch to do what it takes, look into his eye., because that’s what winning is, that extra inch, that’s what life is, the inches add up to the difference between winning and losing, between living and dying. Are you ready to go that extra inch for that guy?!’
Well, are you ready to go that extra inch in doing whatever it takes to lose the pounds and inches that you have sought to lose? Or, when you see it is becoming a little uncomfortable will you slide back into your old comfortable unhealthy way of looking at eating, drinking, activity level, and ways to handle stressors in your life?
You’ve traveled down the comfortable path for far too long. The path which has caused you to gain pounds and inches that have left you feeling disappointed in yourself and miserable. The ultimate destination being a less than healthy life, terrible health along the journey, and, ultimately, a very painful and far too early demise.
Or will this be the year, 2009, when you take back control of your body, your life, your present and your future? No longer allowing hurts and injustices thrown at you from people, places, thoughts, ideas, or anything else that has helped cause you to be over weight, too fat, too unhealthy, yes, too miserable.
It’s up to you. What are you committed to? Your choice today will shape your destiny and the destiny of your loved ones. It’s all up to you.
The comfortable path, a way that leads to being fat, large, and unhappy, or a new path, a path lined with good health, happiness, a sense of accomplishment and attainment, yes, a path leading to a destination of many years, a wonderful quality of life, and opportunities that a healthy lifestyle provides! Again, the choice is entirely up to you.
Jason Owen firts report
Hello everyone,
So sorry it took so
long to check in. I
am really glad to
have a chance to
fill you all in on
Pat's progress.
First off let me
tell you how proud I
am with Pat. His
dedication to this
challenge is really
impressive. He
really made a true
decision. Which
means he cut off any
other possibility
other than to lose
the weight he wishes
to lose. Great job
Pat!! Allow me to
fill you in on what
we are doing in
regards to the
training and
nutrition. We are
doing strength
training 3 times per
week and Pat is
doing 3 days of high
intensity interval
cardio training per
week on his own.
The strength
training cosists of
free weights, body
weight exercises,
and some manual
resis=
tance training. That
simply means he is
using dumbbells,
doing alot of
push-ups,squats, and
other basic
exercises with me
adding resistance to
them. (He loves that
when I do that). As
far as his cardio
goes we usually do a
few rounds of
intervals after his
work out which
consists of 30
seconds of al=
l out effort and 90
seconds of rest. On
his cardio only days
he does 3 roun=
ds of 1 min all out
effort and minute of
rest and the 20
minutes of moderate
intensity. Thats it.
He does not do an
hour of cardio ever.
To this date he has
dropped 12 pounds of
body weight and 9
1/2 inches off his
body. Not bad for
just three weeks.
His nutrition
consists of eating
six small meals a
day with a little
bit of protein with
every meal. This is
the biggest
challenge for Pat
because he has such
a busy schedule. It
really takes alot of
preparation to
follow this eating
plan but as I said
before, "you cannot
out-train a bad
diet". It is the
most important part
of any weight
reduction program.
For those of you who
have trouble
following an eating
plan or who crave
sugars or carbs, I
say this..."Nothing
tastes as good as
healthy and thin
feels". Remember
that. I must also
add one thing I
truly notice alot
when training with
Pat is his attitude
and the way he
pushes himself. I
must say that the
connection with the
hypnosis and the
training are
undenyably powerful
in his
transformation. I
train many different
people and the ones
who do sessions with
Roger Literski seem
to be more motivated
and more willing to
really push
themselves to
achieve their goals.
It is really amazing
to see the
difference. Not that
any of my clients
are difficult to
train, because they
are all spectacular,
it just I see a
measurable
difference in their
overall attitude.
Everything begins in
the mind. If you
wish to change your
body you must first
change your mind.
Until next time I
wish you all the
best in your pursuit
of a healthier
lifestyle. Talk with
you soon.
Hypnosis Blog Entry #2: Why do we turn to Food for
When a client comes into our center to get the control back over food and drink they are amazed when they actually look at their past eating patterns to discover that, on average, they are only hungry about 27% of the time when they usually eat, 27%!!!, Yikes! No wonder they have needless pounds and inches on their body!
Well, with hypnosis we help uncover the various reasons that have led a client to eating. The following is a list of some of them, there are still plenty more, but you get my drift:
Boredom
Depression
Anxiety
Stress
Worry
Companionship
Time of Day
Something to Do
Other People
Sexual Gratification
Excited
Seperation Anxiety
Grief
Sense of Loss
Yes, all of these and many more. With hypnosis we have the client see all of these feelings, sensations, and emotions as 'good' feelings.
That is, they aren't incorrect, they are truly what you are experiencing. Now, the part we want to reframe is what you think is the correct response to those feelings and emotions.
A client is told a story for example of driving a car and the engine light comes on. Well, we may not like it, it makes us a bit queeazy just thinking of it, but we know we must pull over and have it checked out. If the oil light comes on we address the oil level, not the gas level and put more gas into the already full tank. So it is with our emotions, they are like our indicator lights on our cars. They are a call to action. Is it always a comfortable feeling that they give us?
No. But it is an indication that something needs to be addressed, not a call to temporarily distract ourselves from the feeling or indicator light by eating or putting duct tape over the light. The problem will still be there when we are done eating and we will also feel terrible about our added weight and size plus disappointed in ourselves for not making the correct decision.
Remember, when you eat food, especially in a rapid fashion, it actually releases the chemical dopamine to your brain. Yes, the sexual pleasure chemical that is also released to the brain when a person smokes cigarettes, see the connection? By coincidence? Hardly! These corporations know exactly what they are doing by having products that are delivering a temporary sense of pleasure to our brains. The temporary nature make us repeated consumers of their products if we want to have that feeling of pleasure in our lives.
It's funny, when clients fil out the intake form in over 26 years of practice I have never had a client who circles the sexual gratification reason, yet it is exactly what keeps them a lifelong 'addict' to incorrect eating patterns.
Are these some of your resaons for eating? Think of how many less calories, lbs., and inches you would have on you if you simply ate when you were hungry and stopped when you were satisfied. Therein lies the power of hypnosis in weight loss. By addressing these incorrect responses to emotions and feelings we help the client significantly lower the amount of caloric intake, reduce the level of stress, and live a healthier, happier lifestyle. all by accessing their own powerful subconscious mind and utilizing the dormant power that had been there all along!
May continued favor be with you all.

Pat' first entry
Time for me to check
in on my physical
challenge with the
WSAU sales manager
Samantha Albrecht.
We are both in need
of major weight loss
for multiple
reasons. First and
foremost for our
health and secondly
for our state of
mind. It has been
two weeks but I have
seen and felt
positive results.
I have tried the
usual weight loss
routines but never
have stayed with
them through goal.
Every time it was me
giving up or talking
myself out of trying
to reach goal. This
physical challenge
puts my attempt in
full view of the
public and if I quit
everyone will know,
not just me.
To help with the
mental block I have
had in the past is
Roger Literski.
Through hypnosis, I
have been able to
identify why I ate.
I now eat only, when
I’m hungry and stop
when I’m satisfied.
Roger was the one
who encouraged me to
seek the personal
trainer to reach my
goal weight of 163
ponds. He said my
self-esteem would
sky-rocket when I
reach my goal.
This brings in my
trainer Jason Owen
of Anytime Fitness
in Weston. He has
been fantastic. We
started with a
complete overall
assessment of my
body (not an easy
task). But as Jason
says, look to the
final goal not for
instant results.
After setting a plan
we began a weight
training, cardio and
dietary regiment.
For those of you who
think you need to
spend a long time in
the gym, Jason’s
workout lasts 45-60
minutes and only
30-40 minutes on
cardio days. The
diet I’m on has
smaller portions but
more meals per day.
I will follow a
lower calorie intake
diet for the first
month to shock my
system and then
change up after
that.
Let’s give you my
starting stats, I’m
5’8” and 230 lbs.
After week one I
lost 10-lbs. Jason
said week two could
be tougher since the
body goes into a
mode to try and
restore fat after a
big weight loss. I
loss 3-lbs in week
two.
So, I start week 3
at 217-lbs and
feeling a lot better
about myself and the
marathon I’m in.
After January 1st
you’ll be able to
respond to this blog
with questions or
comments, but until
then, if you have
questions for me my

Week 1- Hypnosis Blog Entry by Roger Literski
Most people have heard of using hypnosis with weight loss but may or may not understand what the process is that makes hypnosis so effective in a person's behavior and habits where other programs have failed to produce satisfactory results. With this in mind, let me explain what we do in our hypnosis program to lose weight and keep it off.
As with most unhealthy or incorrect responses that people have to hurtful or painful feelings, emotions, recollections, memories, thoughts, ideas, places, people, or things eating in an incorrect manner results in an individual being too heavy, too large, and a sense of disappointment and utter hopelessness. All of which are feelings that once again get the negative, incorrect eating and drinking process in full gear again. In other words a deep rut that too many times one can get get mired in and live an unhealthy bogged down existnece.
With hypnosis we attempt to get to the root cause of the hurtful feeling, pain, or emotion that has been causing the individual to reach for food, in this case, or other distracting substances or behaviors. For instance, we believe that the appetitie is not your enemy but rather your ally. Your best friend that is designed to tell you to do 2 things: 1-'Eat, you're hungry'. and 2-Stop eating, you're satisfied!' By listening to both directions we can stay slim, trim, and in good shape. Thus, with hypnosis we tell our clients that they will probably eat at more times each day, but eat less food, stopping when they're satisfied.
We also state to the subconscious mind that they will only desire benficial foods or drinks that will get them down to their desired healthy size and weight. If they are holding a food or drink the question they will ask themselves is this, 'Is this food or drink beneficial for me getting to my desired weight and size?' Real simple, we call on the same integrity and honesty that they have given to their employer, their employees, their clients, their customers, loved ones, friends, and family and now we call on that same high level to be honest to and with themselves.
We may do a pseudo-regression where the client can see exactly how they have fallen into this incorrect habit of eating and drinking in a fashion that has made them larger. We ask their subconscious mind to think of creative solutions that would produce their desired slim and trim self rather than a body that is too large and heavy.
Their choice to lose the weight, to travel on unfamiliar territory and paths also must be addressed. Too many times a person is just plain old comfortable with things as they are and the unknown scares them.
Well, we are aware of this and do an age progression that shows them exactly what a life on the path that they have been on leads to, unhealthy size and weight, lack of energy, pain and misery, hopelessness and helplessness, and an utter sense of disappoint in themselves. Of course, the final stop being too early a demise and a very painful and tragic demise as well.
We then progress on the chosen healthy path to see what lies in store for them as they choose healthy foods, liquids, and eat only when the appetitie tells them they are hungry and stopping when it tells them they are satisfied. They see the way they look, they see the way they feel, the nergy, the happiness, yes, the pride as well. It also ends in a wonderfully long life, full of healthy memories, healthy fun loving activites and destinations along the path of success!
Is hypnosis good enough by itself? NO! That is why we encourage the client to join a gym, walk, run, do something physical that can help burn off the pouinds and inches, that will release the feel good chemicals to their brain. Some can do it by themselves but so often a person will only train till it starts to work, get tired, and stop, right at the moment of break through. With a Personal Trainer the person is motivated to work through the temporary discomfort to a greater good, a slim and trim body!
Of course, with both Kristy and Jason, Pat and Sam have the best trainers around! The support, encouragement, knowledge, and compassion they offer is second to none! Pat and Sam will not only reach their weight and size goals but will enjoy the journey as well! I will make sure that their creative subconscious mind does not drift into any other behaviors that may offer temporary unhealthy distractions and see that when the 'oil light' comes on add oil, not gas! The same with uncomfortable feelings or emotions, don't put duct tape on them, no, the feelings are good, they are a call to action! Something must be addressed! Find the solution, remember, unless you are hungry or thirsty, eating or drinking is NEVER the answr!
Until next entry, may continued Favor be with you all!

Kristy's Week One Entry
Week one is officially complete and we are going strong with all of the "new" things that we are incorporating into Sam's daily routine. Habit building is key here in the first week. As with most of my clients "time" is the first issue we have to deal with. Making time can be one of the first most critical things we need to work with. It is so easy to get off track when you allow yourself to get pulled out of a healthy balance when you allow work and daily life tasks to govern your life. With that in mind we have to schedule ourselves the time we need to take for exercise. As with anyone if you make the time fit you will eventually fall into a natural habit of exercise. You might find that your day does not feel complete unless you have exercised!
Sam and I take the time in between exercises to discus the principals of nutrition and weight training so she will have the KNOWLEDGE to take with her long after the personal training process with me (Kristy Medo) has been completed. The more sessions she has the more she will learn the "why's and how's" of the interconnection between nutrients, exercise and cardiovascular principals. I firmly believe if a client understands how food is utilized within the body, and how exercise performance enhances normal body "processes" then the client will know exactly what to expect from their diet and exercise. With that basic knowledge Sam will be able to know her own body and as it responds to her training she will be able to make educated adjustments to her weight lifting, and nutritional spectrum of proteins, fats and carbohydrates base off of her own energy levels and body fat loss.
Sam is highly motivated and not afraid to tackle anything you put in her direction. With that motivation the results will most definitely come. With exercise you truly get what you put into it. In combination with proper calorie consumption, you will have the equation for losing body fat and improving your overall health and appearance!
This process is not only "external" but each person undergoes an "internal" change as well. Every set of the way your mental perception changes. Positive thoughts equal positive action. Every thing you do starts within your mind.
We want ot hear from you!

Sam's Week One
Week One: The fear of the unknown As I’m on the track to join Pat in our 55SAU fitness challenge, let’s just say I’m pretty much scared to death. HYPNOTISM a PERSONAL TRAINER how tough is KRISTY going to work me!?! Pretty much freaked about how much I’ve let my body get where it’s going to take a lot of work to get back to where I want it. What if they judge me… think I’m lazy… or what if I don’t meet their expectations…. I’m going in front of all you listeners with a “commit to get fit”. YIKES! Day one with Roger was first. I’ve never used hypnotism as a cure for anything, yet I’ve always been fascinated with it… just thought it was out of reach for the regular person. I was really really freaked out to go meet with Roger for the first time. When I got to Rogers office he had me fill out a pretty informative information sheet, no big deal… I was worried that he would want to know my inner most secrets, you know we all have those things inside us that we wouldn’t want to share with anyone… nothing too bad, but everyone holds onto private things. Let me tell ya, Roger makes a person really comfortable right off the start. The first part of my session was Roger really explaining hypnotism process and how he works at the subconscious level, not the deep one where they make you do tricks on stage either. The one much higher up where you still know everything that is going on… or at least I think that I did. Roger gives you a few articles on medical studies on the benefits of hypnotism and a reinforcement cd for you to take home. Overall the process was very comfortable and I my fears have subsided to see Roger next time. Day Two: The first day with Kristy…. Yep, again I’m scared of her too.. She is so fit and well…. Let’s say that I’m not. I’m not a big fan of hours of cardio either… is she going to make me sit on a treadmill forever… hmmm well I’m going to bite the bullet to speak… I won’t know what she has planned if I don’t go see her… I meet Kristy at Frank’s gym and we take my measurements and weight. Kristy is actually really nice… she isn’t judgmental of me at all which is very reassuring. She takes the measurements with landmarks, like two inches below the belly button, so she knows where to measure every time and get accurate numbers. That makes me very reassured because, I can lose and inch in five minutes just by re-measuring a part of my body a few minutes later. Landmarks are the key to accurate measurements! Just in the first few minutes with Kristy I realize she REALLY knows her stuff!! For the first day Kristy starts me on a leg circuit, she supportive, finds my limitations and shows me proper lifting technique. The thing Kristy does so much different from other trainers that I’ve experienced in the past is sharing all her knowledge. I’ve worked out a ton of other times at gyms and took the “first time set up training program”… well, I never knew why I was supposed to do what I was doing. Then, was I suppose to be adding weight… was I suppose to be doing more reps... how am I going to get the desired results.. Kristy has to be the smartest trainer that I’ve ever met. She explains how the muscle groups work for women; why some areas we can lift lots of weights without gaining bulk and other we need to just do additional reps with low weight. I’ll be honest with everyone, she kicked my butt day one… but since we did legs I didn’t have any cardio that day! I’ve always kept cardio into my daily workout because I thought that’s the only way to drop pounds. I’ve since worked out with Kristy two additional times and things are going really well. I can’t say enough about how much knowledge that girl has and how NON JUDGEMENTAL SHE is. Kristy is the picture of fitness and you feel totally comfortable around her…. I’m sure all the ladies reading this understand the relationship women can have with other women… One last note before signing off… Kristy insisted that I take swimsuit before pictures!! I’m not a fan of looking the mirror in a swim suit more or less documenting on film! I love my husband but I don’t want him to see me in that way… so I tried to take them myself after he left for work on Friday in a mirror… that didn’t work so well… I also didn’t like what I saw. I brought the camera to the gym and Kristy took the pictures in the locker room for me! I haven’t brought myself to look at them and I’m not sure which computer I’m going to bury those photos on. She reassures me when I take them again in few months it will be worth it!
