WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Wausau residents gathered to help put a stop to hunger on Saturday at the 9th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser hosted by the Neighbors’ Place.
Tom Rau is the Executive Director of the Neighbors’ Place. He told Newsline 9 that 34 restaurants from all over the area participated in feeding soup and bread to members of the community.
“We’re going to do things that make sure we have enough food to everyone that lives in our community and I think that’s a very special thing,” Rau said. “Not in our community will somebody go to bed hungry.”
Rau said they expect to raise around $15,000 from the event. The money goes towards thousands of meals through the year.
