UNDATED (WSAU) We didn’t get much snow last winter, and that’s left area water tables below-normal for this time of year. We’ve also seen lower than expected rainfall totals for the last several years.
You can see the low water levels on many rivers around Central Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Valley Improvement Corporation says reservoirs are in storage mode, and won’t release any of their water into the rivers.
Some areas have seen 30-to-35 inches less rain over the last six to seven years, leading to near-drought conditions during the hot summer months.
