RHINELANDER, Wis (WSAU) The World Championship of Ice Fishing is being held this weekend in Rhinelander. Organizers say the event will continue despite the warm weather over the last week.

Organizers on Broom Lake say there's between 20 and 30 inches of good ice. They also say some of what's melted in recent days has been re-freezing during the evening. While there are no concerns for the fisherman, it's different for spectators. The ice is thinnest near the shoreline, and some snow banks near the lake have been melting.

Fishermen from around the U.S. and 11 counties are taking part in the event. There's a parade of nations in downtown Rhinelander on Saturday morning at 9 before the final weekend of competition.
