MADISON, Wis. (Midwest Communications) - The UW System is in the process of installing a new payroll computer system. But in the meantime, state Auditor Janice Mueller says the old system is “very fragile” – and it might create big errors in tax processing and pay checks for the university’s 60,000-plus employees.
UW officials admit there’s a risk – but they say it’s very limited, and the situation will last only for a few more years until the new $81 million payroll system goes online. Mueller addressed her concerns Thursday to the Board of Regents, while giving a review of the UW’s financial report for the past year.
