Outsiders to help Marshfield pick insider police chief
Marshfield police Chief Joe Stroik
MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) – Wausau's police chief will be involved in the search for the next police chief in Marshfield.
Jeff Hardel will be one of four law enforcement officials who will serve on a special panel selected to interview four members of the Marshfield force, who've applied to replace retiring chief Joe Stroik.
Hardel, the police chiefs from Merrill and Wisconsin Rapids, a State Patrol captain, and Marshfield's Fire Chief, will interview the four applicants next week Tuesday. So will members of Marshfield's Police and Fire Commission.
Stroik announced last month he'll step down April 2nd, after 12 years on the job, and nearly 30 with the department.
Stroik is a Shawano County native.
