WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) Governor Doyle will be in Wisconsin Rapids today to sign a bill that increases recovery zone bond money for economic development projects. The state legislature approved the change earlier this week.
Once the law is signed, Wood County and Wisconsin Rapids can pool their bonding authority together for shovel-ready project. Rapids city officials pushed for the change because of the Energy Composites expansion project.
The company wants to make wind turbines at a new manufacturing facility. The city has agreed to make infrastructure improvements. The project will create up to 600 new jobs when it's finished.
Groundbreaking for the new facility is expected next month.
