40-year jail term for having sex with infant

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis (WSAU) A Wood County man was sentenced to 40-years in prison for having sex with a 17-month-old baby. Jeremy Lund was sentenced yesterday.

He pled guilty to one county of having intercourse with a minor and one count of child abuse. Prosecutors said the plea bargain spared the victims family the ordeal of a trial. Two other counts were dropped as part of the agreement.

Lund was babysitting the infant when the abuse took place. He claimed he'd blacked out from drinking and didn't remember what happened. The child's father saw blood in the baby's crib and confronted Lund, and then called police.

As part of the sentence, Lund will be on supervised release for another 20-years when he's out of prison, and will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
