It's a hoary old cliche. But yesterday in Miami it was the New Orleans Saints defense that was a huge part of their Super Bowl victory, the first in franchise history. The Colts led early 10-0 and with old pro Peyton Manning at the helm you had to like their chances. With Drew Brees and the offense keeping them fresh the d was able to make some big plays including Tracy Porter's interception and return for a touchdown that sealed the deal.

Was it just me or was there alot of cartoon violence in the Super Bowl ads.

Good to see that Betty White and Abe Vigoda could pull down a Super Bowl paycheck though.

The high school hockey seeding meetings were held yesterday...i'll post the seedings later today.

The Badgers should move up in the basketball poll after hammering Michigan Saturday. A couple of teams ahead of them in the polls lost.

The Bucks are warming up...winning 5 of their last 6 including Saturday night over Indiana.

A good weekend also for Steve Stricker and Danica Patrick. Stricker wins the Northern Trust Open while Patrick does well in her Nascar debut, finishing 6th. She also pulled down some green with her GoDaddy spots in the Super Bowl.

Songs for The Day

Down By The River-Neil Young (1969) a violent end for a cheating womanand some nasty guitar work for this Young classic. Here's a video of CSNY dfoing the tune on TV. It looks live.

Down On Me-Big Brother & Holding Company (1967) they released their first Lp shortly after their smoking set at the Monterey Pop Festival. The next Lp "Cheap Thrills" a year later propelled them into the stratosphere. Could any woman match Janis for sheer power?
